CPCC Allied Health Scholarship Recipient

I am so very excited to have received this scholarship.  Thank you for facilitating this opportunity on my behalf.

I am originally from Syracuse, New York but have been in Charlotte since 1993.   I studied English Literature and Psychology st State University of New York College at Oswego and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1992. I am 43 years old and Surgical Technology is my second career.  This semester was the first time in over twenty years I made the President's List, at CPCC.

I currently balance family life with a part time job in property management for a small business I own.

I can't wait to begin a career in the medical field. Medicine has been an interest of mine since I was about 30. Every day of clinical class is exciting and I feel I conquer fears, gain confidence and become a stronger person as my education progresses.

Recipient Profile

Kimberly De Simone has been selected to receive the OrthoCarolina scholarship this coming year. She has a 4.0 GPA at CPCC and has received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both English Literature and Psychology from State University of New York at Oswego. She is expected to graduate from CPCC’s Surgical Technology program in May 2015. Her photo is attached should they wish to post it on their website.

From her application she states that she is self employed as a property manager, has been previously working in real estate, volunteers at the Shelter for Battered Women & Urban Ministries, and with a solid education in my field and a few years' experience I would like to go to Physician Assistant school. I would love to use my education to bi-annually go on medical mission trips as well as develop a rewarding career in medicine
